FAQs

We’ve noted a few of our regular Q&A’s. If these don’t answer your questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch, we look forward to speaking with you.

1. Can anyone sign up to the platform?

Only vetted buyers and sellers of onions will have access to the platform. Any business can request access however prior to access being given we carry out a level of due diligence to ensure the trading legitimacy of all platform participants.

2. Do I need to be an importer or exporter?

Whilst the platform facilitates the trade it does not facilitate the full import and export process. To use the platform as a non-import/ exporter you will need to partner with a trading entity that uses the platform. The minimum trading volume is one full container.

3. Is my data secure?

The platform is hosted on Amazon Web Servers. Network firewalls ensure that all communications on the platform are automatically encrypted with transport layer security, data is encoded in a secure manner and all logins and data flow activity are monitored by AWS CloudTrail. We regularly test and challenge our platform to ensure it’s robust and can withstand external threats.

4. When is a trade confirmed?

A.You can edit or cancel a bid/offer when the product is not yet traded. Once the Buy button is clicked, the trade is confirmed and an e-mail sent to both Buyer and Seller. Commercial and shipping documents are accessible on the Platform once they become avialable.

5. Is my post trade information private?

Yes. Only you can see the trades that you have completed and the prices that you have agreed. Trading and commercial information is only available when the product is on the market and open to trade.

6. How does payment between the trading entities occur?

Financial transactions occur off the platform and are the responsibility of the two trading entities. On completion of trade,  a confirmation email will be sent to the two parties involved outlining payment and other terms. By signing up to the platform T&Cs, you (as either buyer or seller)  agree to the post trade confirmation as being legally binding and a reflection of the agreement that you have to honour with the other party.

7. How is quality ensured and disputes resolved?

Product specifications, by supplier, will  be available for each product offered and  sold on the platform. When a product deviates from the product specification it will be clearly described in the comment box of an offer. The supplier vetting process includes company checks and food  safety certifications. Dispute resolution is  the responsibility of the two trading entities.

8. Can I select the parties/trading entities with whom I trade?

Yes, the platform enables you to direct products/trades to specific markets or, if required, to specific customers. We call this ‘geofencing.’ As a seller, you have the ability to control who can see your product, from the global buyer base to a single buyer in a specific market. As a buyer, you can request product from a single seller or from multiple sellers. do I get started?
